“Haul out the holly,

Put up the tree before my spirit falls again,

Fill up the stocking,

I may be rushing things, but deck the halls again now

For we need a little Christmas, right this very minute,

Candles in the window, carols at the spinet,

Yes, we need a little Christmas, right this very minute,

Hasn't snowed a single flurry, but Santa dear we're in a hurry.”

Dining Room Decor Ideas

The words “dining room” often invoke visions of a stuffy and formal space, relegated to a handful of special occasions throughout the year. But if you have a dining room in your home, why not use it as much as you can, rather than treating it as an afterthought? After all, a dining room is a nice change of pace from eating meals at a kitchen island or around the kitchen table. Plus, it’s ideal for homework, crafting and game nights. Maybe all your dining room needs to make it more enticing is a little love. The following tips can go a long way toward refreshing this space—for a room where you actually want to hang out.

Eight tips for making this room stand out

The words “dining room” often invoke visions of a stuffy and formal space, relegated to a handful of special occasions throughout the year. But if you have a dining room in your home, why not use it as much as you can, rather than treating it as an afterthought? After all, a dining room is a nice change of pace from eating meals at a kitchen island or around the kitchen table. Plus, it’s ideal for homework, crafting and game nights. Maybe all your dining room needs to make it more enticing is a little love. The following tips can go a long way toward refreshing this space—for a room where you actually want to hang out.

Add a Gallery Wall

A floor-to-ceiling collection of art, framed photos, textiles, or a mix brings life to a dining room—and serves as great conversation starters.

Install Trim or Molding

Wainscoting or molding helps break up the predictability of a solid wall. (Plus, if you like the idea of a gallery wall but don’t want to dedicate an entire wall to photos or art, wainscoting or molding helps create an visual anchor for whatever you choose to hang.)

Liven up an expansive wall with favorite photos.

Install wainscoting to add dimension.

Take a Colorful Seat

Add whimsy to your dining room—while giving it a spirited vibe—with chairs in brightly colored upholstery.

Think Beyond Neutrals

Step out of the box with a paint palette that pops. Light blue or green evoke the calming qualities of nature, while reds or yellows boost energy.

Up the vibe with chairs that pop.

Create a soothing ambiance with blue walls.

Look to Textiles

The texture from area rugs and upholstered seating adds depth, dimension and visual interest.

Reconsider Your Table

While a dining room table is a hard-working piece of furniture, that doesn’t mean it needs to be ho-hum. If your table could use an upgrade, look for one that will make an impact in the space, such as a vintage-inspired piece or one handcrafted from a reclaimed piece of wood.

Use textured rug to enhance aesthetics.

Opt for reclaimed wood to make a statement

Dress Up Your Windows

Refresh outdated window treatments with light-diffusing sheer shades or the organic look of woven wood shades. A bonus? Choose styles that are available with motorization, for convenient control with a remote, your mobile device, automatically or with your favorite voice assistant.

Reassess Your Lighting

Take an honest assessment of the over-the-table fixture. Is it dated? If so, change it out for a more modern style that makes a statement. In addition, consider swapping standard light switches for dimmer switches. Putting dining room lights on dimmer switches is a convenient way to add instant ambiance to a room (in conjunction with adjusting shades).

Add organic style with Provenence Woven Wood Shades in Millhouse Color: Burlap Sack

Swap dated fixtures for more modern styles.

Insulating Window Shades - Your Partner in Keeping the Heat in All Winter Long!

Insulating Window Shades - Your Partner in Keeping the Heat in All Winter Long!

The crisp days of fall are now upon us and the colder mornings are starting to creep in. While many of us welcome the colder temps after the hot summer, we don’t want these cold temperatures to come inside. There are many ways that cold air can penetrate a home, but windows are the main culprit when it comes to your home’s heat loss. One way to combat this heat loss is by installing insulated shades and the design team at Heritage Design Interiors can help!

Duette shades were born of necessity. The brainchild of Wendell Colson, Vice President of Research and Development at Hunter Douglas, these shades were developed while he was living in a home of single and double-paned windows. While the windows let in great sun during the day, Colson was freezing at night. He knew there had to be a better alternative to insulating a room with windows. He developed a honeycomb shade that not only kept the cold out but looked great too.

These energy-efficient shades will insulate your home year-round. They are specifically designed to trap air in their distinct pockets creating an insulated barrier, reducing the heat and cold loss often found in windows. This helps to lower homeowner’s energy consumption and energy bills. These shades can be used on every kind of window in your home, including skylights and unusually shaped windows. Duette shades can even be motorized to open at sunrise to let in solar heat and programmed to lose when the sun sets to keep your home warm. You can program them to respond throughout the day to your specific needs.

In addition to being energy-efficient, some other key features of Duette shades include room-darkening technology, sound absorption, vertical shades, and long-lasting durability. They also come in a variety of premium designs, textures, and styles to transform your home. Adding the motorized feature to the shades not only helps to automate your home but can also help individuals who might have a difficult time reaching the shades or have mobility issues.

The design team at Heritage Design Interiors can help you find the right shades for your home. Reach out today to discuss your window needs and the team will help create the right solution!

Motorized Blinds and Shades Provide More Than a Window Covering

Motorized Blinds and Shades Provide More Than a Window Covering

Often overlooked in a home, blinds play an important part in your home’s aesthetic. Once made of flimsy plastic that would twist to open and close, today’s blinds and shades are made of sturdy and reliable materials and are motorized and automated. Homeowners no longer have to fight with the cord when raising and lowering their blinds; one touch on the remote and they raise and lower on their own.

Hunter Douglas offers a line of motorized smart shades that can be controlled by an app on your phone or even with your voice! Not only are the shades motorized and automated, but they are energy efficient, offer increased privacy, and are safe to have in homes with young children and pets. It truly is a win-win for your home. These easy-to-operate blinds and shades are great for hard-to-reach windows or for individuals with limited mobility. If your home is being renovated or is new construction, motorized shades and blinds can even be hardwired into the rooms.

Motorized blinds and shades can be customized to your home with over 25 different styles and color options. These blinds can also be customized and programmed to fit your lifestyle. Imagine swapping your alarm clock for the gentle wake-up of your bedroom shades opening to the sunlight.  If the afternoon sun adds unwanted heat to your room, you can set your blinds to close to keep your house cooler during the day and then reopen in the evening to show the beautiful sunset. For added security, these blinds can be set to open and close while you’re away, giving the illusion that you are home. There are many ways to customize the window coverings to enhance your home’s lifestyle.

If your window coverings are in need of an upgrade, reach out to Heritage Design Interiors. They take care of all of the details from measuring to installing your new window treatments. Heritage Design Interiors is ready to take your rooms to the next level. Contact them at 717-354-2233.

Stylish Kitchen Accessories to Illuminate Your Space

Stylish Kitchen Accessories to Illuminate Your Space.

The kitchen is more than just a place for cooking. It's a space where style meets functionality, and where the right accessories can make all the difference.

From colorful utensils to unique dish towels, the smallest details can transform your kitchen. They can brighten up the space, making it more inviting and enjoyable to use.

In this article, we'll explore various kitchen decor ideas. We'll delve into how you can enhance your kitchen design with stylish accessories, perfect for the summer season.

Whether you're planning a kitchen makeover or just want to refresh your space, you'll find inspiration here.

The Role of Accessories in Kitchen Design

Kitchen accessories play a crucial role in both the functionality and aesthetic appeal of your kitchen. They can add character to your space, reflecting your personal style and taste.

Moreover, the right accessories can enhance your kitchen's efficiency. From storage solutions to ergonomic tools, they can make your cooking and cleaning tasks easier and more enjoyable.

Selecting the Perfect Color Scheme and Materials

Choosing the right color scheme for your kitchen accessories can significantly impact the overall look and feel of your space. It's essential to select colors that complement your kitchen's existing palette to create a harmonious aesthetic.

When it comes to materials, consider a mix of textures for a layered look. Here are a few suggestions:

  • Wood for a warm, rustic feel

  • Metal for a sleek, modern edge

  • Ceramic for a classic, timeless appeal

Lighting: The Unsung Hero of Kitchen Aesthetics

Lighting plays a crucial role in enhancing your kitchen's ambiance. It can highlight your stylish kitchen accessories and create a warm, inviting atmosphere.

Consider using under-cabinet lighting to illuminate your workspace and show off your backsplash. Pendant lights over the island can also serve as a statement piece.

Trending Accessories for a Summer Kitchen Makeover

As summer approaches, consider refreshing your kitchen with seasonal accessories. Bright colors, floral patterns, and natural materials can bring a touch of summer into your space.

Consider adding a fruit bowl filled with vibrant summer fruits or a set of pastel-colored dish towels. These small changes can make a big difference in your kitchen's aesthetic.

Small Touches, Big Impact: Utensils and Towels

Don't underestimate the impact of small accessories like utensils and towels. A set of colorful silicone spatulas or a unique dish towel can add a pop of color and personality to your kitchen.

Choose items that reflect your style and complement your kitchen's color scheme for a cohesive look.

Greenery and Plants: Bringing Life to Your Kitchen

Adding greenery and plants is a simple way to bring life to your kitchen. They not only purify the air but also add a fresh, natural touch to the space.

Consider low-maintenance plants like succulents or herbs that can also be used in cooking. This way, your kitchen accessories serve a dual purpose.

Smart Storage Solutions for Clutter-Free Counters

Smart storage solutions are key to maintaining a clutter-free kitchen. They not only keep your counters clean but also make your kitchen accessories easily accessible.

Consider the following options:

  • Hanging racks for pots and pans

  • Magnetic knife strips

  • Pull-out pantry shelves

  • Under-cabinet storage for small appliances

These solutions can help you maximize your kitchen space while keeping it stylish and organized.

6 Tips for Creating Minimalist Bedrooms with Heritage Design Interior

Transform your bedroom into a minimalist haven with Heritage Design Interiors' tips on neutral colors, sleek furniture, and space-saving solutions.

Creating a minimalist bedroom is more than just decluttering and choosing sleek furniture. It's about embracing a lifestyle that values simplicity and functionality.

This guide will provide you with six practical tips to transform your bedroom into a minimalist haven. From selecting a neutral color palette to incorporating clean lines and space-saving solutions, we've got you covered.

Get ready to create a serene space that promotes relaxation and reflects your personal style.

Embrace a Neutral Color Palette

A neutral color palette is a cornerstone of minimalist design. It creates a calm and serene ambiance, perfect for a bedroom.

Opt for shades of white, beige, or gray. These colors are timeless and provide a perfect backdrop for your sleek furniture and decor.

Remember, a minimalist bedroom doesn't have to be boring. You can add depth and interest with different textures and materials.

Choose Sleek, Functional Furniture

Furniture plays a key role in minimalist bedroom designs. Choose pieces with clean lines and simple forms.

Avoid ornate details or excessive embellishments. Instead, opt for sleek, modern pieces that serve a purpose.

Remember, in a minimalist bedroom, less is more. A bed, a nightstand, and perhaps a chair or a dresser may be all you need.

Quality over quantity is the mantra here. Invest in well-made pieces that will stand the test of time.

Incorporate Clean Lines and Geometric Shapes

Clean lines and geometric shapes are hallmarks of minimalist design. They create a sense of order and simplicity.

Incorporate these elements in your furniture, decor, and layout. For instance, a rectangular bed frame or square shelving can enhance the minimalist aesthetic.

Avoid curves or complex patterns. They can disrupt the serene ambiance of a minimalist bedroom.

Remember, the goal is to create a space that feels calm and uncluttered.

Opt for Space-Saving Solutions

Space-saving solutions are key to maintaining a minimalist bedroom. Consider under-bed storage or wall-mounted shelves.

These solutions not only keep your space tidy but also contribute to the minimalist aesthetic. They provide functionality without adding clutter.

Remember, every item in a minimalist bedroom should serve a purpose.

Select Minimalist Bedroom Decor

Choosing minimalist bedroom decor is about enhancing the space without causing clutter. Opt for simple, functional pieces that align with your color palette.

Consider items like sleek lamps, geometric mirrors, or minimalist artwork. These can add interest without overwhelming the space.

Remember, in minimalist design, less is more.

Maintain a Clutter-Free Space

Maintaining a minimalist bedroom requires regular purging and thoughtful acquisition. Make it a habit to declutter and keep only what you need.

Remember, a minimalist space is about quality over quantity. Invest in items that are durable and truly loved.
